The Relationship Between Parenting and Adolescent Emotional Intelligence

Parenting is believed to have a significant role in the formation of emotional intelligence. This study aims to analyze the relationship between parenting patterns and adolescent emotional intelligence at SMPN 1 Baros. This study used a cross-sectional research design. The sample used was 75 people with a proportional random sampling technique. The study used a questionnaire of parenting and emotional intelligence which was analyzed univariately and bivariately using the chi-square test. The statistical test results obtained a p-value of 0.043 at α 0.05. There is a relationship between parenting patterns and adolescent emotional intelligence. This finding confirms the importance of good parenting in improving adolescent emotional intelligence. Research implications include the need for education for parents about effective parenting and emotional intelligence development programs in schools. Future research is recommended to explore other factors that influence adolescent emotional intelligence.
