Abstract

The behavior using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is the action or activity of a set of tools by workers to protect all or part of their body against the possibility of potential hazards or work accidents. This research aims to determine the factors related to the behavior of using PPE. This research was conducted in April-June 2022. The research design used in this study was cross-sectional. Research respondents were selected using the accidental sampling technique with a total of 64 workers. The data was then analyzed by chi-square test. The results of the statistical test showed that there was a significant relationship between the comfort of PPE (Pvalue 0.005) and the behavior of using PPE, there was no significant relationship between knowledge (Pvalue = 0.74) and age (Pvalue = 0.712), and the behavior of using APD. This study suggests that the company or the Occupational Safety and Health (K3) section add workers to the K3 section so that supervision regarding the use of PPE for fabrication workers runs optimally so as not to cause work accidents as well as work-related illnesses and socialization regarding the importance of using PPE.
