Abstract

An infectious condition called tuberculosis (TB) is brought on by germs from the Mycobacterium group, namely Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The primary signs and symptoms of lung tuberculosis patients include a mucous cough that lasts more than two weeks, as well as additional symptoms such as sputum combined with blood,, hemoptysis, breathlessness, weakness, loss of weight and appetite, fatigue, sweating at night without moving, and fever lasting more than a month. Based on data from the Cilegon City Health Office, the Jombang Health Center is the number 3 health center with the highest TBC. Thus, this study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge, actions and contacts with the incidence of Tuberculosis disease in the working area of the Jombang Health Center, Cilegon City in January-March 2022. The population in this study is the case population, namely BTA + Tuberculosis patients totaling 43 respondents and the control population is all people of productive age, namely 69,829 people. This study used quantitative methods, while the instrument used in this study was a questionnaire with the research design used was case control. Data were analyzed using the chi square test which proved there was a significant relationship between household contacts and the prevalence of TBC (Pvalue = 0.000), there was no significant relationship between knowledge and the prevalence of TBC (Pvalue = 0.661), and there was no significant relationship between action and the prevalence of TBC (Pvalue = 0.827). The suggestion from this study is that pulmonary tuberculosis patients should maintain contact with healthy family members while undergoing treatment by avoiding contact with healthy family members, especially infants and the elderly.
